Job summary

VisionWorks is hiring a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote examinations, performing pre‑exam tests, and explaining each step. The role acts as a liaison between patients and Optometrists and supports the initial steps of the patient journey.

The position requires 1 year of related experience, an optical/healthcare background is preferred, and a HS diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience required.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect medical history; input data into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor and explain preliminary tests to patients.
• Support remote eye exams: pre-testing, testing, and video conferencing.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOP and schedule exams; manage no-shows.
