Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather pertinent information including medical history and ocular health data into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations; explain preliminary testing to patients and document results in EMR.
• Assist remote patients through the remote eye exam process including pre-testing and recording results in EMR.
• Transition the patient to a retail associate after exam and convey doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance and schedule appointments, contacting no-shows and cancellations.
• Maintain patient flow and answer clinical questions in person or by phone; triage ocular emergencies and schedule annual exams.
• Maintain complete patient records and instruct patients on contact lens insertion, care, and handling.
• Place diagnostic contact lens orders and stock; understand contact lens brands and pull trials as requested.
