Job summary

GlobalFoundries U.S. INC. seeks a hands-on mechanical design engineer to deliver industry-leading electro-optical transceivers using GF's Photonix platform and advanced packaging for 2.5D and 3D co-packaged optics.

A successful candidate will have product and mechanical design expertise for photonic and electronic packages and will collaborate closely with electrical, optical, and process engineers to ensure performance and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• MS, or PhD in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience.
• Strong CAD skills with SolidWorks and Creo for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles including thermal and structural analysis.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Creating mechanical designs for CPO products, including integrating PICs, EICs, substrates, and optical components.
• Designing for manufacturability and yield, considering assembly processes and material selection.
• Creating detailed BOMs and drawings for fabrication and assembly.
• Collaborating with internal and external suppliers to ensure final product meets specifications and performance requirements.
• Working with cross-functional teams including electrical, optical, and process engineers to meet project goals.
• Drive CIP (Continuous Improvement Plans) incorporating new technologies to deliver organizational goals more efficiently and effectively.
