Job summary

IDEX Health & Science, LLC is seeking an Opto-Electronics Engineer to design, model, and test laser-illuminator systems. You will contribute to architecture layouts, specify optical and electronic components, and perform Zemax simulations to optimize performance.

The role requires lab experience for build, integration, and test of prototype illuminators and opto-electronic subsystems, with data analysis supporting reliability predictions.

Qualifications

• BS in optical, electrical engineering, or physics with 2–4 years of related experience, or MS with 2 years of related experience.
• Writing technical reports in detailed and pictorial formats.
• Familiar with optical test and evaluation equipment and photometric/radiometric measurements.
• Experience with optical-based integrated systems and Zemax preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply optics, electronics, and laser physics to optical imaging systems, beam shaping, and delivery.
• Model and optimize 3D optical systems and prototype bench-top setups.
• Collaborate with optomechanical and CAD teams to define tooling and tolerances.
• Support R&D prototypes with design feasibility experiments and data analysis.
