Job summary
IDEX is seeking an Opto-Electronics Engineer to join its RD&E team, focusing on laser-driven illuminators and optical subsystems. You will model, design, and test optical and electronic components, integrate with photonics hardware, and contribute to reliability analyses from prototype to production.
The role requires hands-on lab work, experience with Zemax, and knowledge of optics, electronics, and Gaussian beam propagation.
Qualifications
- BS in Optical/Electrical Engineering or Physics with 2–4 years of relevant experience, or MS with 2 years of experience.
- Experience with optical test and evaluation equipment and photometric/radiometric measurements.
- Familiarity with Zemax and testing of optical-based integrated systems.
Responsibilities
- Apply concepts of optics, electronics, and laser physics to optical imaging systems and beam delivery.
- Model and optimize 3D optical systems; design and prototype bench-top optical systems.
- Coordinate with optomechanical and CAD designers to define tooling and tolerances; generate lens and coating requirements.
- Perform data analysis and statistical analysis on test data; support R&D prototypes and production processes.
