Job summary
IDEX Health & Science, LLC seeks an Optical Engineer for Semicon Metrology and Inspection to lead design efforts from concept to prototype. You will partner with customers, translate requirements into optical models, and work with cross-functional teams on solutions that meet manufacturability and performance goals.
The role requires a strong background in optical design, tolerance analysis, and software like Zemax, with travel up to 25%.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in optics-related engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 2+ years related experience.
- 2+ years experience in lens design and optical tolerance analysis including Monte Carlo methods.
- Strong grasp of spherical and aspheric optics fabrication techniques.
- Experience with optical test and evaluation equipment and procedures.
- Experience with Zemax or similar optical design software.
Responsibilities
- Lead in-person customer meetings and work with sales to provide technical expertise.
- Model and optimize 3D optical systems and know optical design principles.
- Generate lens requirements, coatings, and system requirements from customer interactions.
- Interface with CAD designers to define tooling and mounting requirements.
- Develop feasibility experiments for opto-mechanical sub-systems and support R&D.
