Job summary

IDEX Corporation is seeking an Optical Engineer in the United States to lead customer-facing technical work for Semicon Metrology and Inspection. You will apply optical design expertise, perform tolerance analyses, and collaborate with sales, product managers, and QA to deliver manufacturable solutions.

The role requires a strong foundation in optical engineering, Zemax modeling, and effective communication with customers, partners, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an optics-related engineering discipline with 2 years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s in a related field with 2 years of experience.
• 2+ years in lens design and optical tolerance analysis, including Monte Carlo analysis.
• Strong understanding of spherical and aspheric optical components fabrication and metrology techniques.
• Experience with optical test and evaluation equipment and procedures.
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and travel <25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead in-person customer meetings to understand needs and present IDEX solutions.
• Develop and propose optical solutions meeting customer specifications and manufacturability.
• Model and optimize 3D optical systems using Zemax or equivalent.
• Prepare optical components specifications and drawings from higher-level requirements.
• Collaborate with opto-mechanical and CAD teams on tooling and mounting requirements.
• Represent the company at industry events and work with cross-functional teams to align solutions.
