Job summary

Zygo Corporation in Middlefield, CT is seeking an Optics Technician-Polishing (2nd shift) to craft ultra-precision optical components for high-performance metrology systems. You will operate CNC and polishing machines, mount tooling, polish to specs, and ensure quality at the bench.

Responsibilities include inspection with precision tools, recording data, and contributing to continuous improvement while maintaining a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–3 years of hands-on production/manufacturing experience or knowledge of mechanics, processes, computers.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and instructions.
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail to handle delicate optical components.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate multi-axis CNC and polishing machines per lens specs from blueprints and instructions.
• Mounts, attaches, and calibrates work and tooling on fixtures and machines.
• Polish optics to required specifications and test accuracy of settings and programs.
• Inspect parts with precision measuring tools and software; monitor operation and adjust as needed.
• Maintain documentation and assist in continuous improvement efforts; follow safety rules.
