Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking an Optician – Polishing for the Zygo unit in Middlefield, CT. The role focuses on crafting ultra-precision optical components into high-performance optics that enable world-class metrology and systems.

You will program and run multi-axis CNC and polishing machines, inspect parts with precision instruments, and contribute to continuous improvement while following strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years hands-on production/operations experience.
• Ability to read complex technical drawings.
• Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate multi-axis CNC and polishing machines per lens specs.
• Select, mount, calibrate tooling on fixtures and machines.
• Polish optics to required specifications.
• Test and inspect parts using precision measuring tools.
• Monitor operations and adjust equipment to prevent issues.
• Maintain documentation and support continuous improvement.
• Follow safety rules and maintain clean work area.
