Job summary

Zygo Corporation in Middlefield, CT, part of AMETEK, is seeking a Metrology Technician (2nd Shift) to perform in-process and final measurements on optical surfaces and ultra-precision components.

You will set up metrology instruments, calibrate tooling, work with engineers, document results, and maintain a clean, safe workspace. Requires 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, strong math and reading drawings, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of hands-on manufacturing/operations experience.
• Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specs.
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Windows 10/11 for data entry and documentation.
• Able to lift up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Test and measure surfaces of optics and assemblies.
• Set up and use software to interface with metrology instruments.
• Mount tooling and configure instruments for testing.
• Calibrate instruments and tooling for precise measurements.
• Collaborate with opticians, technicians, and engineers.
• Document data and maintain records for processes and improvements.
• Organize data in computer files and keep workspace clean.
• Follow procedures and safety rules.
