Job summary

AMETEK Inc. in Middlefield, CT is hiring an Optics Technician–Polishing for the 2nd shift to craft ultra-precision optical components for metrology systems.

You will program, set up, and operate multi-axis CNC and polishing machines, inspect parts with precision tools, and contribute to continuous improvement while ensuring quality and safety. Requires a High School Diploma or GED with 0–3 years in production; candidates should read blueprints, handle delicate optics, and lift up to 70 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 0–3 years of hands-on production/manufacturing experience.
• Able to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specs.
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Capable of lifting up to 70 lbs and standing for long periods.
• Collaborative team player with problem-solving focus.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate multi-axis CNC and polishing machines per lens specs.
• Select, mount, attach and calibrate work and tooling on fixtures.
• Polish optics to required specifications and verify with precision tools.
• Test settings and inspect parts for quality; document results.
• Maintain records, participate in continuous improvement and safety practices.
• Communicate issues and coordinate with plant systems as needed.
