Job summary

Clarkson Eyecare in Mount Vernon, IL is seeking an Optical Technician (Optician) to dispense and fit glasses and contacts from prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists, connecting patient needs to our eyewear and services.

The role is full-time with benefits; pay is $16–$16.50 per hour plus bonus and commission. You will support patients, measure lens parameters, educate on lens options, and maintain inventory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in a medical office or ophthalmic setting preferred.
• ABO/ABOC and NCLE certifications preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret insurance forms and safety guidelines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with patients while delivering medical support.
• Assist with selecting frames based on style and measurements.
• Operate optical testing equipment and dispense lenses.
• Accurately collect measurements and process orders.
• Maintain inventory and follow office protocols.
