Job summary

Clarkson Eyecare is seeking an Optical Technician (Optician) in Mount Vernon, IL. The role involves dispensing glasses and contacts, assisting with frame selection, and supporting clinicians with prescriptions from Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.

You will handle measurements, lens selection, and use of lensometers, while delivering a high-quality Total Patient Experience in a retail setting.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Prior medical office or ophthalmic experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year in customer/patient interactions or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide Total Patient Experience and build relationships with patients.
• Assist patients in selecting frames and coordinate with prescriptions.
• Operate auto-lensometer and manual lensometer.
• Educate and recommend lenses, coatings and frames.
• Accurately measure bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, PD, pantoscopic tilt.
• Dispense orders and repair/adjust frames.
• Ensure inventory accuracy and maintain clean, stocked areas.
• Perform general office duties as assigned.
