Job summary

The Eye Doctors in Topeka, KS is seeking an Optical Technician/Optician to support patients with eyewear needs and medical prescriptions. The role involves frame fitting, lens selection, and using ophthalmic instruments to ensure precise measurements.

You will assist with dispensing glasses and contacts, maintain inventory, and provide excellent patient care in a busy optical store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous medical office experience preferred; ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.
• Minimum 1 year in a customer/patient-facing role.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with patients while delivering great medical support.
• Determine patient needs and sell to exceed expectations.
• Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and facial measurements and prescriptions.
• Operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer.
• Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames.
• Accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
• Dispense patient orders and repair/adjust patient frames.
• Maintain frame inventory accuracy and keep areas clean and organized.
