Job summary

Sam's Club is seeking an Optical Associate in Flagstaff, AZ to stock and display eyewear, assist members with purchases, and support OD services. You will measure pupillary distance, verify prescriptions, and process eyewear and contact lens orders in a fast-paced retail setting.

You will learn to operate optical equipment, coordinate with labs and optometrists, and maintain compliance with HIPAA while delivering high-quality customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent upon job entry or within 12 months of hire to sit for ABO exam.
• Must obtain ABO certification within 15 months of hire.
• Willingness and ability to work with Manager to register and maintain own NPI number as required by state law.
• Licensed/Registered States Only: Meets or can satisfy state law requirements to become an apprentice optician and licensed optician.
• Must obtain state-required optician licensure within 18 months of hire or within 3 months of completing the minimum apprenticeship hours.
• Experience in health care or retail setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist members with eyewear purchases, measuring, adjusting, and repairing frames and lenses.
• Process eyewear and contact lens orders and verify prescription information.
• Educate members on eyewear usage and care; support contact lens insertions and hygiene guidance.
• Perform final inspection of eyewear and calibrate equipment; troubleshoot lab communications.
