Job summary

Sam’s Club is hiring an Optical Associate in Woodbury, MN to stock, price, and sell Optical products. You will assist members with eyewear decisions, perform basic lens and frame services, and handle purchases with the POS system.

The role requires ABO readiness within 15 months, state licensure awareness, and a strong focus on customer care and accuracy in order processing. Training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent upon job entry or within 12 months of hire in order to sit for ABO exam.
• Meet the requirements to work as an Optical associate (for example, minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the Optical organization and/or by State Boards of Opticianry, as applicable).
• Must obtain American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification within 15 months of hire or job entry.
• Willingness and ability to work with Manager to register and maintain own NPI number as required by state law.
• Licensed/Registered States Only: Meets or can satisfy state law requirements to become an apprentice optician and licensed optician.

Responsibilities

• Stock, set up, and maintain Optical displays and merchandise.
• Process member purchases, payments, returns, and exchanges via POS system.
• Educate members on eyewear usage and care; support contact lens guidance.
• Measure pupillary distance and lens positioning; assist in frame and lens repairs.
• Complete eyewear orders and coordinate with labs/optometrists for updates.
