Job summary

VSP Vision in Gainesville, FL is seeking a part-time Optical Assistant to support patients of Optical Outlets, assist with selecting frames and lenses, and provide first-rate customer service.

The role requires 1–2 years of related experience, basic MS Office proficiency, and excellent verbal and written communication to handle inquiries in a fast-paced environment. Florida Optician license is preferred, and bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with merchandise selection, fitting frames, and dispensing eyewear.
• Attract and retain customers by providing unsurpassed customer service.
• Greet customers and explain the process transparently.
• Handle transactions at time of purchase.
• Suggest improvements and solutions to problems for viewing comfort and budget needs.
• Assist other retail staff with complex customer product needs and prescriptions.
• Record measurements and adjust or fit eyewear accurately.
• Inform Office Manager of any issues noted by staff, doctors, or patients.
• Perform all tasks assigned by Office Manager.
