Medical Eyeglass Center, Inc. is hiring an Optician/Optical Associate in Jacksonville, FL. You will assist patients with eyewear selection, fitting, and adjustments inside medical office settings, delivering accurate prescriptions and material processing.

You will manage lab orders, insurance claims, and payments while maintaining organized records and promoting MEC promotions. A friendly, patient-focused attitude and learning mindset are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 6 months of optical experience.
• Experience reading spectacle prescriptions.
• Knowledge of frame adjustments and repairs.
• Experience taking measurements (PD, seg height, optical center).
• Familiarity with optical lab processes and lens types.
• Experience reading lenses using a lensometer.
• Ability to handle insurance eligibility checks and authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients from selection to fitting and adjustments.
• Process orders through MEC's point-of-sale systems.
• Maintain detailed records of prescriptions, orders, payments, and insurance claims.
• Review lab orders to ensure timely and accurate completion.
• Submit insurance claims, post payments, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Dispense prescription and non-prescription eyewear (and contact lenses where applicable).
• Assist patients with eyewear adjustments, repairs, and cleaning.
• Maintain frame inventory and keep displays organized and stocked.
• Review daily patient schedules to anticipate volume and opportunities.
• Support in-office promotions and marketing materials.
• Build positive relationships with providers, technicians, and staff.
