Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical records administration.
• Excellent customer service skills and strong attention to detail.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and their families.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and reviews all demographic and insurance information to ensure correct reimbursement.
• Confirms accuracy of patient demographics prior to surgery.
• Verifies active insurance coverage and processes prior authorizations at least 2 weeks before surgery.
• Works with the Business Office Specialist to collect self-pay and out-of-pocket expenses at least 2 weeks prior to surgery.
• Alerts management of issues with prior authorization or prepayments.
• Alerts management of any no show fees to be collected prior to rescheduling surgery.
• Responds to calls from patients, physicians, medical staff and coworkers to determine urgency and directs handling per workflow.
