Job summary

Midwestern University’s Eye Institute is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support Ophthalmology scheduling, patient communications, and insurance coordination. You will help organize patient schedules, obtain authorizations, and explain pre- and post-operative care.

• Requires strong communication and customer service skills.
• Experience using MS Office and basic computer tasks.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems (EHR).

Responsibilities

• Schedule in-office appointments and procedures in Ophthalmology and Optometry services.
• Coordinate with ambulatory surgical centers for surgical scheduling.
• Obtain insurance authorizations/referrals for procedures.
• Discuss procedures and obtain informed consent and pre/post-operative instructions.
• Maintain patient flow and accurate documentation of treatment records.
• Assist with patient payments and registration.
