Midwestern University Eye Institute seeks a Patient Access Specialist to support faculty, staff, students, and patients. You will manage appointment scheduling, insurance communications, and financial responsibilities, coordinating with clinical teams to ensure smooth patient flow and care.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and proficiency with EHR systems along with MS Office applications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, Associate Degree preferred.
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in healthcare or medical office setting.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and medical terminology required.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid/Third Party Payers required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; customer-service oriented.

Responsabilités

• Schedule in-office appointments and procedures in Ophthalmology and Optometry.
• Coordinate surgical scheduling with ambulatory centers.
• Obtain insurance authorizations/referrals for procedures.
• Provide patients with information on procedures, consent, and pre/post-operative care.
• Register patients and collect demographic/insurance information.
• Assist with organization of office and clinical procedures.
