Job summary

Grand Rapids Ophthalmology is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists with initial testing and patient preparation for exams. You will operate diagnostic equipment, collect medical histories, and document findings in the EMR.

The role emphasizes exceptional patient service, adherence to HIPAA, and maintaining efficient clinic flow. Weekend availability and reliable transportation are advantageous; full-time hours with varying shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • COA or COT certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional patient service in person or by phone.
  • Greet patients professionally and ensure a positive experience.
  • Assist physician to facilitate clinic flow.
  • Document medical visits and procedures in EMR.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and eye measurements (e.g., dilation, refraction, pressures).
  • Maintain exam rooms and inventories; ensure cleanliness and supplies.
