Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners in Elkridge, MD is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to support providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and related administrative tasks.

The role offers on-the-job training and a path toward a career as an ophthalmic technician or scribe, with responsibilities spanning patient histories, eye tests, device measurements, and inventory support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in the medical field (medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician, etc.).
• Experience with EMR tools.
• Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Ophthalmic technician or scribe experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take medical histories and verify information.
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests (applanation tonometry, refraction, retinoscopy).
• Use devices to take eye measurements (Humphrey field analyzer, OCT).
• Notify ophthalmologist about changes in vision or acuity.
• Dilate eyes for exams.
• Explain eye drop and medication usage.
• Explain contact lens use.
• Assist with inventory management.
