Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. The ideal candidate has medical experience and a passion for patient care. On-the-job training is available as you pursue a career path as an ophthalmic technician or scribe.

You will assist providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and handle administrative tasks, including taking histories and performing eye measurements with tools like the Humphrey field analyzer and OCT.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Previous experience in the medical field (medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician, etc.).
• Experience with EMR tools.
• Proficient with MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take medical histories and verify information.
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests (applanation tonometry, refraction, retinoscopy).
• Utilize tools like a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements.
• Inform ophthalmologist about changes to patient's vision.
• Dilate eyes to prepare patients for exams.
• Explain how to properly use eye drops or medications.
• Explain contact lens usage.
• Assist with inventory management.
