Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team. The ideal candidate would have medical experience and a passion for patient care, with on-the-job training provided as they pursue a career path in ophthalmic technology or scribing.

Primary tasks include assisting providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and handling administrative duties. This is an on-site role with potential travel to other locations and opportunities for growth

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience in the medical field in roles such as medical assistant, medical scribe, patient care technician, nursing assistant, pharmacy technician, etc.
• Experience with EMR tools
• Proficient with MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is a plus

Responsibilities

• Take medical histories and verify information
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
• Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements
• Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
• Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
• Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications
• Explain how to properly use contact lenses
• Assist with inventory management
• May travel to other locations
