Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners in Maryland seeks an Ophthalmic Technician I to support ophthalmologists with diagnostic and treatment procedures and patient care. On-the-job training is available to the right candidate as they pursue a career path in ophthalmic technology or scribing.

Responsibilities include taking medical histories, performing tests (visual function tests, applanation tonometry, refraction, retinoscopy), using Humphrey field analyzer and OCT, dilating eyes, educating patients on

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience in the medical field preferred (medical assistant, scribe, care tech, etc.).
• Experience with EMR systems is required or advantageous.
• MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Take medical histories and verify information.
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests (tonometry, refraction, retinoscopy).
• Use Humphrey field analyzer and OCT for eye measurements.
• Inform ophthalmologist of changes in vision or acuity.
• Dilate eyes in preparation for exams.
• Explain eye drops and medications to patients.
• Assist with inventory management.
