Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician I to join our patient care team in Hagerstown, MD. The role supports ophthalmologists with diagnostic procedures and patient care, with on-the-job training available to the right candidate.

You will perform histories, eye tests, dilations, and assist with inventory while explaining treatment steps to patients. Previous medical experience is helpful, but we provide growth opportunities in eye care.

Qualifications

• Experience in the medical field in roles such as a medical assistant or scribe.
• Proficiency with EMR tools and MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• H.S. diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Take medical histories and verify information.
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy.
• Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements.
• Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues.
• Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam.
• Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications.
• Explain how to properly use contact lenses.
• Assist with inventory management.
