Job summary

Harborview Eye Institute in Seattle is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician 2 for day shifts, Monday through Friday, on-site. The role supports the ophthalmology team by performing complex diagnostic eye exams and imaging tests, handling patient intake, and helping the clinic run smoothly.

Candidates must complete an approved ophthalmic technician program and have at least one year of relevant experience; substitutions are allowed.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved ophthalmic technician program and one year of experience.
• Or equivalent education/experience.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

• Assist/and or perform complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures as delegated by the optometry, ophthalmology and acute eye care team
• Complete all ophthalmic imaging tests as ordered by the physicians such as Amler tests; Stero- tests, Applanation tonometry, Goldman visual field tests
• Perform complex clinical diagnostic eye imaging and procedures within the scope of certification; patient intake activities, routine technical procedures, administer topical medications, assist with procedures
• Demonstrate proactive, professional communication across and within the department to facilitate smooth workflow, and to ensure department is positively represented throughout the organization
