Job summary

Harborview Eye Institute in Seattle has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-time Ophthalmic Technician II on the Day Shift.

You will assist with complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and imaging, perform routine ophthalmic tests, and support the ophthalmology team to ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved ophthalmic technician program and one year of experience.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist/and or perform complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures as delegated by the optometry, ophthalmology and acute eye care team.
• Complete all ophthalmic imaging tests as ordered by the physicians such as Amsler tests; Stereo tests, Applanation tonometry, Goldman visual field.
• Perform complex clinical diagnostic eye imaging and procedures within the scope of certification; patient intake activities, routine technical procedures, administer topical medications, assist with procedures.
• Demonstrate proactive, professional communication across and within the department to facilitate smooth workflow, and to ensure department is positively represented throughout the organization.

WORK SCHEDULE

• Full-time ( 100% FTE)
• Day Shift/Mondays-Fridays

Department Description

Located two blocks from the main medical center in Harborview's Ninth & Jefferson Building on First Hill in Seattle, the UW Medicine Eye Institute offers cutting-edge medical and surgical eye care for common to complex conditions and disorders.

Our staff provides comprehensive treatment for people with glaucoma, cataracts, diseases of the retina, cornea, orbit and nerves and age-related eye diseases. We also perform refractive procedures such as LASIK and oculofacial plastic surgery procedures.

Eyes on James is our full-service optical shop in the Ninth & Jefferson building and offers eye exams, specialty glasses and contact lenses.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Assist/and or perform complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures as delegated by the optometry, ophthalmology and acute eye care team

Requirements

• Completion of an approved ophthalmic technician program and one year of experience: Certified Ophthalmic Assist
• or Equivalent education/experience
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
