Job summary

Harborview Eye Institute in Seattle is seeking a Full-time Ophthalmic Technician to support the ophthalmology team on day shift. The role involves performing and assisting with complex diagnostic eye examinations and imaging to aid patient care.

Applicants should have completed an approved ophthalmic technician program with at least one year of experience and may hold a COD/Certified Ophthalmic Assistant credential. On-site work and strong teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved ophthalmic technician program and one year of experience.
• Certification as Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or equivalent may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist and/or perform complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures as delegated by the optometry, ophthalmology and acute eye care team
• Complete all ophthalmic imaging tests as ordered by the physicians such as Amler tests; Stero- tests, Applanation tonometry, Togopen Visual Field Goldman
• Perform complex clinical diagnostic eye imaging and procedures within the scope of certification; patient intake activities, routine technical procedures, administer topical medications, assist with procedures
• Demonstrate proactive, professional communication across and within the department to facilitate smooth workflow, and to ensure department is positively represented throughout the organization
