Job summary

Harborview Medical Center Eye Institute is seeking a Per Diem Ophthalmic Technician II for the Acute Care Rapid Team. Assist or perform complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures under the ophthalmology and acute eye care team.

You will complete imaging tests ordered by physicians, administer topical medications, support patient intake, and help with workflow. This per diem position offers day shifts and opportunities for professional growth within UW Medicine.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved ophthalmic technician program and one year of experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

• Assist and/or perform complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures as delegated by the optometry, ophthalmology and acute eye care team.
• Complete all ophthalmic imaging tests as ordered by physicians (e.g., Amsler tests; Stero- tests, Applanation tonometry, Goldman visual fields).
• Perform imaging and procedures within scope of certification; assist with patient intake activities and administer topical medications.
• Demonstrate proactive, professional communication to facilitate smooth workflow and positively represent the department.
