Job summary

Comprehensive EyeCare Partners is seeking an entry-level Ophthalmic Scribe for Texan Eye Balcones in Austin, TX. The role supports ophthalmologists and optometrists by documenting patient encounters in real-time and ensuring accurate medical records during clinical visits.

Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. High school diploma preferred; ophthalmic scribe certification preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a medical scribe training program or previous experience as a medical scribe is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with medical practice management and electronic medical record software.

Responsibilities

• Document patients accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or other designated systems, capturing medical history, chief complaints, examination findings, and treatment plans.
• Strong typing and data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of patient records by reviewing documentation for inconsistencies, missing information, and proper coding.
• Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are properly equipped with necessary instruments, supplies, and patient education materials.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists/optometrists to transcribe and enter information into patient records, ensuring clarity and adherence to protocols.
• Demonstrate knowledge of medical coding and billing processes.
• May perform other duties as necessary
