Job summary

Visionary Eye Institute in Newport Beach, CA is seeking a skilled Back Office Ophthalmic Technician to support our physicians and maintain smooth clinic flow. Part-time or full-time opportunities are available across Newport Beach, Laguna Woods, and Orange.

You will conduct patient workups, perform diagnostic tests (IOP, visual acuity, OCT, Humphrey fields, fundus photography), scribe in the EHR, prepare exam rooms, and assist with procedures while upholding HIPAA and infection-control standards.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and take accurate histories, including chief complaint, medications, allergies, and ocular/medical history
• Perform visual acuity, refraction/manifest refraction, pupil exams, confrontation visual fields, and IOP measurement (tonometry)
• Administer dilating drops and other ophthalmic medications as directed by the physician
• Perform diagnostic testing such as OCT, visual fields (Humphrey), fundus photography, A-scan/biometry, topography, and pachymetry
• Scribe and document accurately in the EHR during patient encounters
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain, clean, and calibrate ophthalmic equipment
• Assist with in-office procedures and minor surgical prep as needed
• Educate patients on testing, procedures, and post-visit instructions
• Maintain patient flow and communicate effectively with front office and physicians
• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards
