Job summary

NJRetina in Bridgewater, NJ, part of Prism Vision Group, seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians with measurements and tests, including OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry and biometry. You will document findings accurately and maintain patient flow.

You will act as a scribe, assist with patient education, administer medications, and ensure exam rooms are clean and compliant with regulations. Strong attention to detail and empathy are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: GED or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs testing (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Performs slit lamp exams, tonometry, and basic eye assessments.
• Acts as scribe and enters data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists with informed consent and patient education.
• Oversees patient flow and maintains exam room cleanliness.
