Job summary

NJRetina, Lawrenceville, NJ office, part of PRISM Vision Group, is hiring an Ophthalmic Assistant for an onsite role. You will conduct measurements and tests to aid physicians in diagnosing and planning treatment, with careful documentation to comply with standards and to provide excellent patient service.

This role requires performing various ophthalmic tests, assisting with exams, and acting as a scribe. Travel to other locations may be needed based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
• Experience: 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience; 2+ years not required but beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs tests required by exam type including OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam with tonometry and angle assessment; basic muscle balance testing; assess pupils and fields.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists with office procedures, informed consent, and patient education.
• Oversees patient flow and maintains exam room cleanliness.
