Job summary

PRISM Vision Group, in partnership with NJRetina, seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians with diagnostic testing and patient documentation. The role involves performing OCT, visual fields, photography, biometry, and more, while accurately recording patient information and ensuring high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced ophthalmic setting. Travel between offices is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0-2 years of prior ophthalmic assistant experience
• OAII Experience: 2+ years of prior ophthalmic assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs testing such as OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam and related procedures.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Ensures informed consent and assists with patient education.
• Oversees patient flow and maintains exam room cleanliness.
