Delaware Valley Retina Associates in Lawrenceville, NJ is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our onsite clinical team. The role supports physicians with history-taking, testing (OCT, visual fields, photography), and record-keeping using EMR. You will also assist with medications and patient education.

The position demands 0-2 years of ophthalmic experience and a high school diploma or GED, with Bachelor's degree preferred. Travel between locations is possible as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience (OA1).

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes an ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs tests such as OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exams including applanation tonometry and anterior chamber angle assessment, basic muscle balance testing.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists ensuring office procedures are adhered to and informed consent is obtained.
• Assists with patient education.
• Oversees patient flow throughout the day.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms.
• Complies with procedures, regulations; reports errors to supervisor.
• Maintains a positive, cooperative, professional attitude.
