Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history; records visual acuity.
• Performs exams and tests (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Performs lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exam and tonometry.
• Acts as scribe and enters data in EMR or paper charts.
• Administers ophthalmic medications.
• Ensures procedures are followed and informed consent obtained.
• Assists with patient education and manages patient flow.
