Retina Group of Washington in Reston, VA is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians with exams and patient care. This onsite role involves performing tests (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry) and documenting information in EMR.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma; OA1 (0–2 years) or OAII (2+ years) ophthalmic experience, with strong teamwork and professional communication. This position is onsite with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; bachelor's degree preferred.
• OA1: 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience; OAII: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsabilités

• Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs testing required by exam type, including OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam including tonometry and anterior chamber assessment.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists with patient education and ensuring informed consent.
• Oversees patient flow and maintains exam room cleanliness.
• Complies with procedures and regulations and reports errors.
• Maintains professionalism and teamwork.
