Job summary

PRISM Vision Group seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant for The Retina Care Center in Hanover, PA. This onsite role performs measurements and tests to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment planning, with meticulous documentation and high patient service standards.

The position requires 0–2 years (OA1) and 2+ years (OAII) ophthalmic assistant experience, with strong communication and teamwork skills and proficiency with EMR systems. Occasional travel to other locations may be needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School graduate or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Record ocular and systemic history and visual acuity.
• Perform tests per exam type (OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Conduct lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam including tonometry and anterior chamber angle assessment.
• Perform advanced ophthalmic procedures.
• Act as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assist with ensuring procedures and informed consent.
• Assist with patient education.
• Oversee patient flow and maintain exam room cleanliness.
• Comply with procedures, protocols and regulations.
