Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmology care at the Dallas KW Clinic. You will collect patient histories, perform diagnostic testing, document findings in the EMR, and assist with procedures while ensuring patients understand their care plans.

The role emphasizes accurate testing, strong communication, and adherence to HIPAA, with a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Willingness to work at the Key-Whitman Eye Center location is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year medical/ophthalmic assistant experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer applications.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document accurate patient histories.
• Perform lensometry and visual acuity testing.
• Conduct ophthalmic diagnostic testing (HVF, HRT, IOLMaster, fundus photography).
• Perform functional ocular measurements (color vision, BAT, Schirmer, Amsler grid).
• Document physician findings and treatment plans in the EMR.
• Provide patients with clear post-operative instructions following procedures.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Support professional communication and customer service in patient care.
