Job description

Overview


We are seeking a full-time Operations Trainer (Electronics/Soldering) in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing training classes and programs for Operations Associates, seeking to provide support for all training events, and conducting administrative tasks as requested to sustain the operations.

Essential Functions

  1. Plan, create, and deliver training and curriculum for Operations associates and coordinate training events with Workforce, Subject Matter Experts, Supervisors, etc.
  2. Evaluate and develop Operations mentoring program.
  3. Communicate routinely with supervisor on progress of training and associate certifications.
  4. Demonstrate ability to develop short and long-term goals for Training events.
  5. Develop web-based teaching materials, eLearning, and other learning technology materials.
  6. Work in a self-directed environment toward predetermined long-range strategies/goals.
  7. Partner with Operations leadership to ensure that training meets the needs of the department and that training is delivered when necessary.
  8. Organize and develop training materials (e.g. course syllabi, testing/evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids) and resources (laptops, room bookings, guest instructors) for group, individual, off-site, or self-guided training activities.
  9. Maintain training schedules/provide timely progress reports on all training events to HR and management while ensuring training documentation is maintained per Garmin standards/procedures.
  10. Create and conduct training for current and new computer applications and processes.
  11. Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Operations, Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 2 years experience as a Trainer OR an Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Operations, Engineering, Education or related field AND a minimum of 4 years experience as a Trainer.
  2. 2 years Printed circuit board assembly experience, with hand soldering.
  3. Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with excellent presentation skills and public speaking experience.
  4. Demonstrated advanced proficiency and knowledge of current Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  5. Must have experience in the development of interactive, multimedia training materials.
  6. Must be detail-oriented, demonstrate the ability to work proactively/effectively with minimal supervision, and be a driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems.
  7. Maintain flexibility to train outside normal business hours of 8am-5pm.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Experience in developing interactive, multimedia training materials.
  2. Experience in a corporate training role.
  3. Experience with ISO 9001 documentation and procedures.
