Job summary

ABF Freight, an ArcBest company, is seeking a Supervisor, Operations I to oversee daily Service Center activities in California. You will supervise staff, coordinate loading/unloading, and ensure safety and compliance with company procedures and labor agreements.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication, and the ability to work in varied weather and dock environments. A HS diploma is preferred, with leadership experience and transportation knowledge considered a plus.

Qualifications

• 2 years leadership experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills required.
• Knowledge of freight handling and safety standards preferred.
• HS diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and control resources for loading/unloading of freight on shifts.
• Communicate assignments and monitor performance across employees.
• Maintain load plans and balance for safe vehicle operation.
• Assign tasks according to unloading and loading schedules.
• Provide training, feedback, and disciplinary recommendations as needed.
• Foster safe handling and a positive, productivity-focused environment.
• Support relationships with partners to meet service standards.
