Job summary

Roadrunner is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead daily dock, freight, and terminal activities in Chicago, IL, focusing on safety, efficiency, and financial discipline within a fast-paced LTL environment.

You will translate network strategy into execution, oversee load planning, control costs, ensure compliance, mentor frontline staff, and collaborate with linehaul contractors to protect shipment integrity and terminal profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 1–2 years of relevant operations or logistics experience.
• Experience in transportation, LTL, warehouse, or service center operations preferred.
• Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff.
• Strong knowledge of safety, compliance, and HazMat handling (Hazmat preferred).
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain.
• Analytical skills to interpret operational and financial data.
• Proficiency in PC applications; AS/400 experience preferred.
• Clear written and verbal communication; capable of engaging across all levels.
• Strong multitasking and problem-solving in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Execute dock and terminal operations with precision, including load planning and linehaul coordination.
• Monitor costs, optimize labor utilization, and ensure accurate billing and payroll processes.
• Maintain safety and compliance with DOT/OSHA standards and hazardous materials handling.
• Lead and develop frontline teams with coaching and performance feedback.
• Coordinate with linehaul contractors, drivers, and internal teams to ensure smooth freight movement.
