Job summary

CarMax is seeking an Operations Manager in Training to lead the Service Operations Department across assigned locations. The program builds leadership and hands-on experience in inventory management, repair processes, and completion of CarMax’s Senior Management Development Program.

You will collaborate with Sales, Business Office, and Purchasing to deliver an exceptional customer and associate experience while driving operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Completion of CarMax-provided training in Inventory, Cosmetic, and Production processes
• 3+ years of management experience in retail or service operations
• Ability to interpret and maintain accurate data records
• Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to lead leaders
• Willingness to relocate within the region after training

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Senior Manager on the store leadership team across Service Operations including reconditioning, cosmetic, production, and automotive service functions
• Directly and indirectly lead multiple managers and a large frontline workforce with accountability for staffing and development
• Own operational execution with oversight of KPI, capacity, quality, cycle time, and cost controls
• Maintain full financial accountability including P&L ownership and labor optimization
• Champion process improvements and ensure alignment with CarMax standards
• Oversee EH&S program for the department and location, including inspections and safety practices
