Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is recruiting Management Trainees for hands-on training across service center operations, logistics, freight management, and team leadership. Trainees will learn to manage shifts, departments, and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Participants gain mentorship, CDL eligibility, forklift training, and leadership skills, with opportunities to advance within a nationwide network of 260+ service centers and a strong culture of growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; strong computer skills (Word/Excel) preferred.
• AS400 background is helpful for system navigation and data entry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Solid work history and professional appearance; willing to relocate after training.

Responsibilities

• Complete shift manager’s training as understudy under an experienced manager.
• Participate in forklift training and production exercises across service center roles.
• Join the Old Dominion Truck Driving Training program to obtain a CDL license.
• Fill in as supervisor on various shifts and departments as needed.
• Develop and implement new process indicators and operational improvements.
• Operate AS400 for freight movement and maintain performance records.
• Use Workday to update payroll and employee information when required.
• Prepare and submit monthly activity reports.
• Assign daily tasks to employees based on schedules.
• Make timely decisions based on volume and communicate schedules accordingly.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation; address issues promptly.
• Travel approximately 15% to other service centers for cross-site training.
