Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is recruiting Management Trainees for hands-on training across service center operations, including logistics, freight management, and team leadership.

The program provides mentorship and the opportunity to earn a CDL, forklifts, and leadership skills for a fast-paced environment. Trainees will learn to manage shifts and departments, with assignments assessed by knowledge indicators and papers, while focusing on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Good working knowledge of WORD and EXCEL.
• AS400 background helpful.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Solid work history and professional appearance.
• Must be open to relocation after trainee program.

Responsibilities

• Complete shift manager’s training as an understudy to an experienced manager.
• Trainees perform forklift training and production exercises on all service center jobs.
• Participate in Old Dominion Truck Driving Training to obtain CDL.
• Fill in as a supervisor on various shifts and departments.
• Develop new indicators and implement process changes.
• Maintain records of efficiency, quality, cost, hot loads, missed loads, etc.
• Use AS400 to move freight and update records and Workday to update payroll.
• Prepare monthly activity reports and allocate work to staff.
