Job summary

Target's Operations Intern program offers paid, hands-on leadership training in a supply chain facility. This 40 hr/week internship aims to develop operations managers through mentorship, real-time problem solving, and frontline team leadership.

You will learn to lead a department, mentor hourly team members, and drive safety, quality and productivity while supporting daily goals and business priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Participation in school or extracurricular activities and leadership roles.
• Strong interest in retail and supply chain facilities.
• Ability to communicate clearly; problem-solving and initiative.
• Team-oriented with eagerness to learn.
• Ability to access all levels of the facility and respond to team member issues.

Responsibilities

• Spending time on the facilities floor helping to lead amongst team members and aligning the team in daily business priorities.
• Working alongside team members to lead through daily priorities.
• Maintaining a high standard of quality/inventory accuracy through standardization of processes.
• Tracking KPI’s such as safety, teamwork, quality and productivity to identify gaps and drive actions.
• Carrying out process improvement initiatives using CI methodologies (Gemba, Fish Bone Analysis, 5 why’s).
• Administering communication between IT and the Operations team to address system issues and testing in the WMS.
• Recruiting and mentoring team members to develop continuous improvement mindset and leadership.
• Leading daily meetings for the operational team and presenting at planning meetings.
