Job summary

The National Wildlife Federation is seeking an Operations Manager to join the Program Operations team. You will collaborate across Finance, Philanthropy, Legal, HR, and Accounts Payable to optimize processes, map workflows, and develop performance metrics that guide leadership decisions.

You will lead initiatives to improve data hygiene, administer Airtable bases, and create onboarding materials. A proactive, collaborative, and adaptable mindset is essential to succeed in a matrixed environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of experience in financial management, operations, or nonprofit administration; grant management is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience influencing others to achieve a shared goal.
• Comfort with changing priorities and learning new processes and software.
• Demonstrated strong project management across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to analyze datasets, synthesize data, and present findings to leaders.
• Clear communication and ability to distill complex concepts for lay audiences.
• Experience soliciting information from teams while minimizing burden.
• Reputation as a changemaker with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support project outcomes.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including advanced Excel; familiarity with Smartsheet/Airtable.

Responsibilities

• Develop operational performance metrics with program and advocacy teams.
• Visualize data to identify budget risks or opportunities with resources.
• Analyze data and provide insights for strategic operational decisions.
• Report on program operational health and performance to leadership.
• Administer Airtable bases, maintain data hygiene, and train staff on bases.
• Map processes and pinch points; propose improvements and manage implementation.
• Document best practices and create SOPs; develop onboarding templates.
• Train program operations leaders on new processes and systems.
• Lead teams to solve complex operational issues; provide surge budget/grant support.
