Supervisor – Pack/Blend

Location: New Johnsonville, TN

Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising labor management, planning of inbound and outbound activities, product slotting, and daily customer communication. Responsibilities include labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment oversight, and manpower allocation. The role includes hiring, training, performance appraisals, issue resolution, and collaboration with the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager to ensure compliance with service and cost objectives. Associates are expected to meet company objectives related to performance, safety, and quality while complying with all corporate and site‑specific policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct staff meetings to review daily and weekly work activities, plan, and assure continuous improvement.
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues.
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe, profitable management of operations, equipment, and products in accordance with company policies.
  • Manage operations to meet productivity and service goals and comply with the site’s operating agreement with the client.
  • Implement and report ongoing cost‑savings measures; provide ideas and suggestions for more efficient operations.
  • Meet all client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create fair supervision programs, counsel, and discipline team members when needed.
  • Assist Human Resources with hiring, training, and professional development programs.
  • Provide direction to the performance evaluation system for promotions and wage decisions.
  • Oversee training, evaluation, and continuous development of plant and warehouse staff.
  • Plan daily work schedules by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; assess priorities and assign duties.
  • Review pending jobs or trends, reorganize warehouse space, and adjust supplies, equipment, or staffing levels as required.
  • Train new staff or delegate training responsibility to experienced team members; assess trainee progress and add duties as appropriate.
  • Adapt to change, work in a fast‑paced environment, and perform overtime when required.
  • Work within warehouse temperature ranges, which may vary from mild to moderate.
  • Maintain high motivation among team members to deliver customer satisfaction.
  • Support adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide ongoing training.
Physical Demands

Occasional bending, frequent walking and standing, continuous sitting. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 11‑20 pounds. Reach, squat, or kneel as needed.

Work Environment

Low to moderate noise level; rare exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals. High degree of motivational focus required for customer satisfaction.

Skills and Abilities

Education & Experience

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three years experience in logistics/distribution or relevant environment.
  • One year supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: MHE certification or basic MHE operation knowledge.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with RF scanners and WMS functions.

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, speaking) and business communication.

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic to intermediate level for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and performing related tasks.

Other Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; timely completion of tasks.
  • Good organizational and personnel skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Leadership, supervision, and planning abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
